British Values

The teaching of British Values is a statutory requirement for all schools.  School promotes British Values in a variety of ways and has a comprehensive audit of how it does this.  As such, school welcomes dialogue with any parent/carer who wishes to find out more about the approach taken at Whybridge Junior School with regards to British Values.  Additionally, school is happy to answer any questions regarding this topic at the termly Parent Forum led by the Headteacher.

Guidance from the DfE (Department for Education) includes:

“to create and enforce a clear and rigorous expectation on all schools to promote the fundamental British values of democracy, the rule of law, individual liberty and mutual respect and tolerance of those with different faiths and beliefs.”

Actively promoting these values means challenging pupils, staff or parents/carers who express opinions contrary to fundamental British values, including ‘extremist’ views. Whybridge Junior School opportunities and is committed to promoting these fundamental British values in the following ways:
